Everyone can play the Blues! - Join in and learn the Blues

This workshop will cover the elements, styles and communication in a blues band.  You will be taught by music tutor Daniel Shaw.

Daniel Shaw is an experienced practitioner having worked in an arts background since being appointed as Musician In Residence at the Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre in 1998, and now works as the course manager for Strodelive at Strode College in Somerset, a thriving hub of performance and production at Level 3 education.

He is a member of the Blues in Pews team, a popular community arts initiative in Highbridge, funded by SEED. Now in its third year. https://www.facebook.com/bluesinthepews

The Blues in the Pews model has drawn in a couple of hundred people from the area (attendance usually 50-70, with rotating regulars and new people each time) is diverse and inclusive, has participated in wider arts schemes in the area and has been mentioned in passing (for its impact on members of the community) on radio 4’s ‘all in the mind’

He is a songwriter and performer based in the Glastonbury & South West area. He has worked both as a music tutor and a musician in residence (Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre) and has written and performed in productions for film, dance and theatre. Past work includes performances with the poet Simon Armitage; performing at Cecil Sharp House; supporting Martin Joseph, and performances at festivals in Europe, Tennessee, Kolkata and the UK.

Some of the excellent students are assisting the production teams at this event. Daniel is hosting the Blues events in the Blues Education Programme venue – Sidmouth Methodist Church.
